2. (01 JULY 2011 REVISED) Employment opportunity -Electrician/Engineering Technician - Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency - Full/Part-time
Duties - Assist Dr. Clarke with the following:
1. Design and costing of renewable energy systems i.e. solar PV, wind, bio-energy, etc.;
2. Energy audits – HVAC, pumps, motors, motor drives, building envelope, lighting, controls, etc.;
3. Procurement and installation of energy technologies;
4. Business development i.e. marketing, proposal writing, product management, sales etc.;
5. Project management, administration and other related duties as assigned.
Compensation:
1. Compensation is BDS $400 per week, plus travel reimbursement, overtime pay, and some on-the-job training by Dr. Clarke.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications;
1. City and Guild Diploma, Associates's or Bachelor’s degree, or any relevant vocational, professional and/or tertiary training in electrical wiring and installation (electricians), electrical engineering, electronics, energy engineering, physics or related field;
2. Knowledge and skills in producing electrical drawings preferred;
3. Ability to follow instructions and a committment to learning;
4. Excellent written, verbal, telephone and Internet communication skills;
5. Must demonstrate proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, Publisher, etc). A test will be given at the interview;
6. Overall computer and analytical skills are essential e.g. Excel spreadsheet computations;
7. Preference for candidates with a driver’s license (but not essential for the job);
8. Preference for candidates that reside in Barbados. No relocation or employment visa support provided.
Hours and location:
1. Generally between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with some flexibility;
2. Full or Part-time positions available;
3. Registered offices of Clarke Energy Inc., Welchman Hall, St. Thomas, Barbados. This is a separate office annex to the home of the Clarke Family.
